Hello Fellow Shavers
Having bad skin and poor shave for that every 30 seconds of your day in front of the mirror ? Try something else.
I have been doing good old wetshaving with double edge razors for a while, and I have been getting much better results than my older Mach3/Sensor and canned goo foam. My skin feels better, and I feel better every morning to kick start a long day ahead. Sometimes simpler is better, and less is more. Achieving a baby butt irritation free shave with a simple DE razor is actually much easier and enjoyable than using your latest 500 bucks electric razor or expensive cartridges. Unfortunatly it seems we are forever running out of time, and the basic grooming and shaving becomes a lost art and gives way to a brainless no need to think dry shave in seconds – a step backwards.
The cost having a closer shave probably lower than you think. ( of course it can be as expensive as you would like it to be ) Here are some items that are part of the brew for a better wetshave :
- Razor. e.g straight razors, double edge safety razors

A 40s Gillette Milord
- Razor blades. Probably you will save much more than a dime on this. A pack of 5 baldes – my favourite Gillette 7 o’clock costs under 1SDG. Compare it to cartridge shaving.. You probably will get less heart aches from changing razor blades frequently. You cannot imagine how much I misuse my M3 cartridges past its way-due-date with lots of uncomfortable shave of course. I even tried limiting my shaving to twice a week instead of a daily shave.
- Shaving brushes to whip up the lathering foam. Boar brushes can be gotten from some of the indian stores such as Mustafa for instance. There are other mens grooming stores that sells them and some badger brushes. Better brushes can bought from online stores. This is a nice investment that will last for decades. you might even be able to pass it down to your son!
- Shaving creams and soaps – this is what you whip up your nice lather from. Local ones I have tried includes CrabTree&Evelyn products, and Godrej creams.
- Shaving bowl. This is optional since some people swear by face lathering or hand lathering. Personally, I will still use a bowl to wack up the lather.

An Edwin Jagger Bulbous, Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad Shaving cream, and my salad bowl aka shaving bowl
- Aftershave. I have a few in rotation, including Old Spice ( both the P&G formula and the one from India ), Nivea, Bodyshop products which can be sourced locally.

( from left ) Old Spice P&G, Old Spice Shulton, Body Shop AS Balm
Simple?
